Part of Bethany’s celebration of 150 years worship and service in Chadsmoor was marked on Friday 28th June when over 100 very well behaved and interested school children from St. Chad’s Junior school visited the Church. They were shown all the items that were going to be on display the following day when Bethany was holding an ‘Open Day’ for the community of Chadsmoor.
The Baptistry was open and was of great interest as were all the photographs that recorded the history of the Church. There were displays that showed how the Church celebrated Christmas, Easter and harvest today as well as information on the many charities the are supported both financially and with prayer throughout the year.
Also on display was a new artwork of the Church created especially for the anniversary by Church member Deborah Dore that now hangs in pride of place where the accompanists’ sit at Sunday services.
The ‘Open Day’ on the 29th June opened at 10:00 a.m., Church members were on hand to show local visitors around some of whom related their association with the Church through past family members of the congregation and attendances at weddings and concerts held in the Church.
Celebration of the 150 years of Baptist ministry in Chadsmoor is being held on Sunday 7th July when Reverend David Sutcliffe who was a minister at Bethany in his early ministry will be leading the Servoice.
