Safeguarding policy
SAFEGUARDING POLICY STATEMENT FOR BETHANY BAPTIST CHURCH
Our vision
We at Bethany believe that EVERYONE is of inestimable value and therefore worthy of deep respect, sensitive consideration and protection. This particularly applies to babies, children, young people and vulnerable adults for two key reasons. Firstly, because babies, children and young adults are still growing learning and developing in response to the people around them, including those they meet at church, so our interactions are important. Secondly, age and immaturity means that babies, children and young people are more vulnerable to harm. Therefore we as church members commit ourselves to the nurturing, protection and safekeeping of babies, children and young people and will pray for them regularly.
Vulnerable adults are also in need of our nurturing and protection growing, ageing and developing and responding to the people around them, including those they meet at church so again our interactions are important. They are also vulnerable because they are dependant on those around them for support with all/many aspects of their lives which leaves them open to harm.
We have developed a policy and some procedures based on best practice and expert guidance from the Baptist Union of Great Britain to help the church fulfil its safeguarding responsibilities. This includes the designation of key individuals to see the policy is maintained, any actions are carried out and the membership is kept informed of its responsibilities.
These people are listed below and any of them should be contacted immediately if you have any concerns or worries about any individual.
