Prayer and Thanks

Dear Friends,

We are very grateful for your messages, prayers and support for us. For this month we would appreciate your prayers in the following areas.

We are currently having sometime away on holiday on the coast of Peru. Prayers that our travel plans will stay secured enabling us to return to Iquitos. There are rumours of another lockdown. We don’t expect one however the uncertainty is affecting the country as cases are again rising.

Although our home assignment plans (for May-August) have been confirmed the UK has now closed the borders to all travellers from South America. Pray that this new strain of the virus (from Brazil?) would subside in time for our return. Prayers for our families and the kids as we have already had to cancel our Christmas visit to the UK last year.

Give thanks that our perimeter wall,  blown down due to a heavy storm at the Nauta Integral Mission Training centre has been repaired. The project (AKA project Nehemiah) was administered totally by our Supported Partner workers. Although it’s a temporary wooden fence it has been very encouraging to see the team manage the whole project, without much input of the BMS personnel. The wall was finally erected by the help of the community in one morning.

Our first scheduled river trip to Samito for a training conference will be in late February. Prayers that we will be able to get there to deliver this very valuable theological training to Pastors and leaders in the surrounding villages.

Our school buildings in Iquitos have been closed since March 2020. Prayers that they would open again soon this year.  The school year will restart again in March in the virtual format. Prayers for Jonathan, Ruth and Phoebe that they will continue to thrive whilst we continue to find creative ways to engage them in Education.

There is a possibility of having a Action Team here in Peru in 2021-2022. Prayers that our conversations would be fruitful in order to discern if this is right time to host a team in the Autumn.

With every blessing,

Dave & Michele
